Farewell to Pokerroom.com - A True Pioneer
Monday, April 14th, 2009 marked a solemn day in online Poker history when the “option to play Poker on PokerRoom.com” was disabled. Pokerroom.com was one of the longest running online Poker outfits having been launched in 1999 by Swedish poker players Oskar Hörnell and Claes Lidell.
Players were given the option to withdraw from their account or to transfer their funds over to bwin, the parent company of Pokerroom.com. Until 2006, when the UIGEA came into effect, Pokerroom.com was one of the world’s leading poker sites with a huge player base and a top-notch reputation for excellent, innovative software. It was also one of the first sites to offer a Mac-compatible Client and Linux and mobile phone applications. The news of its ultimate closure is a shock to nearly the entire online Casino and Poker community. You had a great ride Pokerroom.com and you will be dearly missed.
Pokerroom.com may be closed but there are several other reputable online poker rooms to choose from. Read our in depth Poker reviews and make your selection. Our recommended Poker rooms have great game play and fantastic bonus offers.

Bankruptcy Protection for Trump Entertainment Resorts
For the 3rd Time Trump Entertainment Resorts is seeking bankruptcy protection. This follows on the heels of non-payment of a $53.1 bond payment which was due in December.
The drastic decline of the economy as well as stiff competition from neighouring Pennsylvania, which is currently expanding its brick and mortar gambling sector, pushed Trump to proceed with the filing. It was also reported that Trump Entertainment Resorts will be delisted from the NASDAQ stock exchange effective February 26th. This raises serious questions as to whether the sale of Trump Marina Hotel Casino to Coastal Marina LLC will proceed as planned. The value of the sale is $270 Million and was set to take place on May 26th.
Donald Trump owns several high profile businesses in Atlantic City, including the Trump Plaza, the Trump Marina, and the Trump Taj Mahal, whose poker room was previewed in the classic poker movie Rounders. Trump and daughter, Ivanka, submitted their resignations from the company’s Board of Directors a few days prior to the filing. The stock is currently just pennies per share; a far cry from its 52-week high at $4.39.
